We help children engage their bodies and minds through fun and educational activities.

About Us

Edugarden is a haven for early childhood edcuation that encompasses all of the fundamental aspects of learning for young children. By maintaining lower than nationally required ratio of children to educators, each child receives individual attention to identify not only their academic spectrum of strengths but also their personal interests and desires. The Edugarden environment offers five classrooms, an indoor play area and an astroturfed outdoor area. Edugarden provides the perfect setting for the educational, social, personal and physical development of your child.

Location

Edugarden boasts of a new convenient location with on and off road parking for ease of collection and pick up of your young ones. We are placed in close proximity to King George and Nelson Mandela parks and our assigned health care centre St. Clair Medical.

Our Community

Edugarden adheres to the adage; “it takes a village to raise a child.” A yearly calendar is provided to keep you informed about all of the Edugarden’s activities, and weekly you will have access to a newsletter that will describe how activities were carried out and enjoyed. You will always be able to contact teachers and caregivers at Edugarden by telephone and email.

We employ qualified individuals who have met specific requirements (ECCE, First Aid & CPR) and we collaborate with local schools to provide experience in a controlled environment for aspiring educators. Our employees are personally  invested in Edugarden and must maintain the levels of performance and integrity that we expect and promise to provide. Our core staff have been employed since inception  and therefore you will see a very limited turnover of aunties. We believe that by providing a space where educators, caregivers, and parents are all comfortable, we create the optimal environment for our children to learn and develop through their early years.

Toilet Training

Edugarden does not reqire that your child be potty trained prior to enrolment. We understand that this is a priority for you as it is for us; it is an achievement we will accomplish together! Children using diapers will be a part of our potty training program with regular visits to the toilet at intervals in addition to necessity and request. Toilet use is documented to mark progress and you will be invited to send your child in underwear when use becomes regular. We encourage you to continue a similar practice of toilet training at home to facilitate consistency.

Discipline

There are no naughty children at Edugarden. We have a time out zone where children may be asked to spend time or may to volunatarily to relax and think about their actions or a situation that has been upsetting. It is not treated as a punishment but as a tool for learning a lesson and learning to control impulsive behaviour. Where conflicts arise between children over an object for example, the object will be removed and equal emphasis will be placed on sharing and respecting the belongings of others.

For serious conflicts where a child may or does cause injury or displays recurring conflict, parents will be notified and reports will be filed. All conflicts will be treated with confidentiality to ensure that all children are kept physically and emotionally safe.

Security

Access is granted to enrolled students and their documented parents/caregivers, staff, and program specific guests, or by appointment only for prospective clients. Children may only be collected from the premises by the designated parent/caregiver, changes to pickup must be communicated to Edugarden in advance and will be confirmed with valid identification and vehicle number.
